QUESTIONS? Read this first: wp.me View in HD at: www.flickr.com This video was taken by the crew of Expedition 30 on board the International Space Station. The sequence of shots was taken December 29, 2011 from 20:55:05 to 21:14:09 GMT, on a pass from over central Africa, near southeast Niger, to the South Indian Ocean, southeast of Madagascar. The complete pass is over southern Africa to the ocean, focusing on the lightning flashes from local storms and the Milky Way rising over the horizon. The Milky Way can be spotted as a hazy band of white light at the beginning of the video. The pass continues southeast toward the Mozambique Channel and Madagascar. The Lovejoy Comet can be seen very faintly near the Milky Way. The pass ends as the sun is rising over the dark ocean. Mansa Musa and Islam in Africa: Crash Course World History #16
In which John Green teaches you about Sub-Saharan Africa! So, what exactly was going on there? It turns out, it was a lot of trade, converting to Islam, visits from Ibn Battuta, trade, beautiful women, trade, some impressive architecture, and several empires. John not only cover the the West African Malian Empire, which is the one Mansa Musa ruled, but he discusses the Ghana Empire, and even gets over to East Africa as well to discuss the trade-based city-states of Mogadishu, Mombasa, and Zanzibar. In addition to all this, John considers emigrating to Canada. Like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter: @thecrashcourse @realjohngreen @crashcoursestan @raoulmeyer @thoughtbubbler

Durban Point Waterfront Shopping - Africa Travel Channel
Durban Point Waterfront Shopping - Africa Travel Channel
www.africa-24.com The Durban Point Waterfront, one of South Africas most exciting and significant property development projects, is located on a prime site at the entrance to the busiest port in Africa, with outstanding views of the Indian Ocean and the Durban city skyline. This mixed-use waterfront development is a catalyst for renewed investment in the city-centre. A significant part of the charm of the Point Waterfront development is the juxtaposition of past and present, where listed buildings, such as the Point prison and the gracious 1906 Edwardian Port Supervisors houses have been restored to their former glory, and the historic Timeball, once again informs sailors and visitors alike of the time. The impetus for the development of the Point Waterfront came from the need to reticulate purified water from uShaka MarineWorld back to the sea via a canal. This lead to the idea of creating a unique waterfront city, in which the canals form the spine of urban redevelopment, with economic benefits of water frontage extended throughout the area. Ultimately the Waterfront initiative is not an attempt to extend the city fabric, nor is it intended to transform the area into an extended theme park or tourist resort. Rather, it will develop as an important, well-defined addition to the city, and become a sought-after place to live, work and play.

Armourers Place Restaurant Benoni Gauteng South Africa - Africa Travel Channel
www.africa-24.com The Armourer's Place is soon to celebrate its 20th Birthday, and in that time, Peter Weissnar has built up to be one of the most remarkable eateries in Gauteng. Good Austrian food and this happy atmosphere keeps patrons returning, to a place where, try as you might, you simply cannot have a bad time. Peter is himself an armourer, hence the name of the restaurant, and he created the works adorning the walls; they cleverly offset the very dramatic murals. Guests are also somewhat drawn to the extensive range of beers available by the keg, and Peter periodically treats the patrons to and Austrian-style Beer fest, which is extremely popular! The Armourer's Place also offers a conference venue for up to 25 delegates, with a separate entrance and reception area. Weekend entertainment gets wild, with a wide choice of Austrian Food and drinks, from set menu to a la carte, and the Eisbein always a firm favourite. As the evening moves on, expect the party to improve.
